Whale Watching and Fine Dining..

We went to Lahaina yesterday to do some whale watching...and it wasn't me they were looking at!!!

Aboard the Kaulana vessel...

The choices were catamarans, zodiacs or a boat...Arnold needs a boat...something with substance..

We saw so many whales and babies...love when their tails came up!

This was a mom who sat under our boat to let her baby nurse...

This was her baby that played around by our boat spinning and turning

Babies can only hold their breathe for 5 minutes so they are up to the surface often...

These huge animals were so graceful...

There were some fights between a couple of males....

These two jumped out of the water but I didn't get the full picture!!!

Lots of 'that she blows'!!!

When whale hunting was prominent here 300 000 whales were killed in a 50 years span for oil.

I am glad we discovered oil in the ground.....that's when the killing stopped!

Lots of big splash!

Then we beached ourselves like whales by the pool for the afternoon....

We did a little shopping at a wharf where we found amazing carvings out of Monkey wood....

And cow bones.....could be a new hobby for Justin...

We have our share of bones...

And petrified whale bone....

The young lad was manning his dad's booth...

But he was an excellent salesman... I bought the seahorse and this is what is signified ...

He even said he was open to negotiation..too funny!!

Supper was at Mammas Fish House...

After we got over the sticker shock.....we thoroughly enjoyed our evening...

Samples of soup were presented...the boys asked for another round of shooters of soup....

Ever dish was a work of art...prawns and macadamia crusted pork....

Joy asked for the heads to be ripped off before serves.... Looked more like 'shrimp'....instead of prawns!!

We passed on coffee and dessert.....coffee was 15 bucks a cup....freshly pressed at your table....

I offered to press them a cup back at the hotel....with some some dove chocolates....

that way we didn't have to stay to do dishes all night!!!!

It was a great experience with amazing food....But we may be eating at McDonlads for the rest of the week!!!

The adventure continues...

  1. Mama's is expensive, heh? Try out Ruth's Chris steak house in the mall at Wailea. Its expensive, but incredible.
Have you seen the documentary "Blackfish"??? Colleen told me about it. Catch it on Netflix.

  2. These pictures of the charter are wonderful to look at. The food looks yummy and expensive, but worth every dollar, I'm sure. What I loved the most was the baby whales when they come up out of the water. Appreciated the lesson on baby whales and how they have to come to the surface every so often.
